Assoc. Prof. Adrian Kah Heng Chiow

Dr. Adrian Chiow is the Chief of Surgery and Senior Consultant Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic (HPB) Surgeon at the Department of Surgery, Changi General Hospital. His sub-specialty interest is in minimally invasive (laparoscopic and robotic) HPB. He graduated with MBBS from the University of Melbourne (Australia)(Hons) in 2003 and completed training in General Surgery at Singhealth and Eastern Health Alliance with Specialist Accreditation Board certification in 2012. He subsequently commenced his specialist HPB training in CGH before undergoing further sub-specialty clinical training under the Human Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) award in 2013 for advanced and minimally invasive (laparoscopic/robotic) HPB Surgery at the Royal Brisbane Hospital, Brisbane, Australia. Since returning from fellowship, he started the Advanced Laparoscopic HPB service in 2014 and the Robotic HPB program in 2016 in CGH. He is actively involved in undergraduate teaching as Clinical Associate Professor at Duke-NUS Medical School. Dr. Chiow research interests are in improving clinical outcomes and quality of life for patients undergoing minimally invasive (laparoscopic and robotic) HPB surgery. He holds grants investigating technical aspects of MIS HPB surgery and has published articles in peer reviewed journals in this area. He also serves as a reviewer and on the editorial board of local and international journals. He has been invited as faculty for regional and international meetings to share his experience with minimally invasive HPB surgery and as proctor for local and regional workshops in MIS HPB surgery. Nationally, he serves as the secretary of the HPBA Singapore and currently is a member of the outreach committee of the IHPBA.
