Dr. Bong Jan Jin

Dr. Bong Jan Jin is a consultant hepato-biliary-pancreatic surgeon working at the Sunway Medical Centre in Malaysia. He graduated from the University of Leeds UK, and completed a postgraduate research thesis leading to the award of M.D. degree from the same university. He was trained at the prestigious Northwest Thames Higher Surgical Training Program (London Deanery). After completion of specialist training in general and hepato-biliary-pancreatic surgery (awarded Certificate of Completion of Training by the General Medical Council UK), he continued his training as a senior clinical fellow at the Hammersmith Hospital, London. He is on the Specialist Register of the General Medical Council UK, and a fellow at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. After twenty years at the United Kingdom, Dr. Bong returned to his home country, Malaysia, in 2009. He was appointed Associate Professor (Academic) at the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and became the head of hepatobiliary unit at the Hospital UKM. He joined Sunway Medical Centre in 2013. He was appointed Associate Professor at the Sunway Institute for Healthcare Development at Sunway University in 2016. Dr. Bong has published many original articles in the field of hepato-biliary surgery in peer-reviewed journals. He is currently an editorial board member for Asian Journal of Surgery and Journal of Pancreatology. His research interests include hepatocellular carcinoma, minilaparoscopic surgery, and minimum-invasive HPB surgery.
