Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yoong Boon Koon

Associate Professor Yoong Boon Koon qualified his BSc(med) and MBBS degree in University of New South Wales (Aust) in 1996 and completed his Master of Surgery in University of Malaya in 2006. He re-established the University Malaya Medical Center(UMMC) Hepatobiliary Unit in 2009 after his Clinical Associate Fellowship in Hepatopancreaticobiliary(HPB) Surgery and Liver Transplantation at Queen Mary Hospital(Hong Kong). He started the Living Donor Liver Transplantation program in 2017 and currently the Head of General Surgery Division and Chair for Liver Transplantation Unit in UMMC. He is also the current President of Malaysia Hepatopacreaticobiliary Surgeons Society(MyHPBS) and the Council Member of Asia-Pacific Hepatopancreaticobiliary Association(A-PHPBA). His main interest is in complex and laparoscopic HPB surgeries and liver transplantation.
